Create Barcodes

CREATE BARCODES

As a consumer, you encounter barcodes on a daily basis, but you may be new to using them in your own business. Creating barcodes for your products begins with GS1, the global authority for the unique identification of products and companies. By licensing either a GS1 US GTIN or a GS1 Company Prefix, you will have the foundation for your barcode, a unique string of data that represents your product and can be used to ensure better product management.

Retailers often name GS1 as their preferred barcode vendor and will verify the authenticity of your barcodes by checking in the GS1 Database before they allow you list your product. If your company is not listed in the database as the brand owner of that barcode, your account might be suspended, or you might need to relabel your products. Both will cost you time and money.

Need U.P.C.’s?

Perinovus is a GS1 US Solution Partner, as well as a Certified Identification Partner, making us a source for you to obtain your U.P.C.s.

Get U.P.C.s directly through GS1 US by clicking the appropriate link below. You will be taken directly to the GS1 US store to license them. Afterwards you will be directed back here so we can help you complete the next steps towards selling your products on the global market.

Need only a few U.P.C.s? Get a GS1 US GTIN

A GS1 US GTIN is a great option for small companies that are looking to quickly list their products for sale.

A GS1 US GTIN can be licensed for $30 and there is no annual renewal fee for a GS1 US GTIN.

Need multiple U.P.C.s or to identify a location? Get a GS1 Company Prefix

A GS1 Company Prefix allows businesses to get multiple barcodes at a single time, as well as identify locations, mixed cases, create coupons, and create higher levels of packaging like a case or pallet. It’s part of every barcode you create and is the key to uniquely linking your company to your products in the marketplace. Your initial fee is the cost of GS1 US Membership and is based on the “capacity” chosen. After that, you’ll pay an annual renewal fee to continue using your prefix and barcodes.

At Perinovus, we work to help businesses at any stage of their barcode creation and onboarding process. If you have not already licensed a GS1 Company Prefix, the first step is to determine how many barcodes you will need. This depends on the number of different variations that your products come in. For example, if you sell t-shirts, different colors, sizes and packaging will all require separate barcodes. We can help you determine exactly how many barcodes you will need to identify each unique product and help you complete the next steps toward selling your products on the global market.

GET THE RIGHT TYPE OF BARCODE

GET THE RIGHT TYPE OF BARCODE

Once you’ve licensed either your GS1 US GTIN or your GS1 Company Prefix, we will identify what type of barcode is necessary to meet GS1 standards. If you are working to identify a product, you’ll need a UPC-A, however, there are many other types. For example, GLNs are used to provide data about location, GRAIs are related to assets, GDTIs provide document information, SSCC oversees shipping and GS1-128 barcodes are attached to pallet cases, and that is just the beginning. While trying to navigate the world of GTIN and barcodes may seem overwhelming, at Perinovus, we have the expertise to simplify the process so that you can begin selling while also experiencing the benefits of asset management and adhering to international regulations.
