Barcode/Label Design

As a business owner, it can be overwhelming to learn all the specifications of barcodes while also ensuring that you are meeting all the latest

Most consumers are familiar with UPCs, but you may not be fully aware of

throughout the supply chain system. Here are just a few of the most common types that we can help you incorporate into your business model

Services of Barcode/Label Design

  • A Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) acts as a license plate for your shipping unit. The SSCC is a unique 18-digit number that includes an Extension Digit, GS1 Company Prefix, Serial Reference and Check Digit, which remains the same for the life of the logistic unit to which it is assigned. This SSCC is the code you pair with the ASN with your designated EDI software to communicate to trading partners about the contents of that shipping unit. It is to be used in conjunction with your logistics label.

  • This barcode is designed to hold multiple data strings to support logistic units, such as batch/lot number, expiration date, serial number, etc.

  • A GLNs is a set of numbers that identifies locations of businesses, physical locations and objects and different departments. This barcode can be used on invoices, logistic units, purchase orders and for internal tracking purposes.

  • Logistic labels often have other various barcodes and information on the label. This information tends to help every person at every point of the supply chain as often times logistic service providers will often not have access to electronic information related to an SSCC. For carriers, the inclusion of additional information is important. Typical information used for transport includes consignment number, ship to postal code, and carrier specific routing and handling information such as a routing code. Typical customer information includes the ship to location, ultimate customer’s address, purchase order number, etc. The label facilitates automatic data capture of SSCCs when tracking packages and is also intended to be used for automatic sorting at transport terminals.

  • This relatively new type of barcode is becoming increasingly popular because it allows businesses to drive consumer engagement. Having a QR code on your product packaging is a great way to allow consumers to learn more information through your website, provide customers with a number to call to ask questions, or share any marketing materials that can be viewed digitally. Basically, you provide us with the information you would like us to encode (website, url, language, email, social media link, etc) and we provide you with a QR code that users can scan with their smartphones. They can verify the QR code by using their camera, which will automatically scan that QR code and direct them to the information we have encoded.
